We are developing a highly dynamic portfolio of exploration permits in southwestern Burkina Faso and plan to expand our holdings into the most prolific regions of the Birimian Greenstone Belt throughout West Africa.
Gold exploration in Burkina Faso
The company established an office in Ouagadougou in 2018 with local and international geologists. We have built a strong presence in one of the most prolific greenstone belts in the world as the gold sector once again is beginning to heat up.
Through extensive due diligence of numerous exploration permits, we made our first acquisitions in 2019 in the relatively underexplored South West region, that covers two of the most prolific Birimian Greenstone Belts.
Our existing permits offer tremendous opportunities for exploration, with several outcropping multi-kilometre long quartz vein structures and geological anomalies.
The Birimian Greenstone Belts are recognised as some of the most attractive gold exploration regions in the world. While Burkina already has 50+ million oz in defined deposits, the prolific geology is still very under explored and holds a lot of untapped potential.
Strategy
Having a well established local presence in these prolific surroundings gives us a very strategic advantage for identifying new opportunities and assets suitable for acquisition and exploration.
Having built our own fully equipped laboratory facilities, Aurora has been able to assess and secure exploration licences covering more than 400 km2 along the prolific Houde and Boromo greenstone belts in south Burkina Faso.
